ASBESTOS TESTING & MONITORING SERVICES IN NORTHWEST BC

Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral that was used extensively in building materials prior to the 1990s due to its beneficial properties such as high tensile strength, fire resistance, and bonding capabilities. Unfortunately, the fibrous nature of asbestos allows fibres to break off of the mineral and these microscopic fibres can be inhaled and lodge themselves deep within the lungs where they build up and cause serious health consequences. Asbestosis inhalation is currently the leading cause of death for BC Workers, making asbestos testing paramount to worker and public safety.  Aquila Safety offers a comprehensive array of asbestos testing services to ensure the needs of building owners, individuals, and businesses are being met within Northern BC.

ASBESTOS BULK SAMPLING

Aquila Safety Hazardous Materials Technicians are trained to walk through residential, commercial, and industrial buildings or other assets, and determine which materials may be asbestos containing.  We sample all materials of concern and send the samples out to an accredited laboratory for analysis.  Following analysis, we compile a report with recommendations based on the laboratory findings.  Anytime demolition or renovation activities are planned on a building built prior to 1990, asbestos testing should occur on the materials that will be disturbed in order to prevent exposing workers and building occupants to harmful asbestos fibres.

ASBESTOS AIR MONITORING & CLEARANCE

Abatement contractors conducting high risk abatement activities are legally required to conduct asbestos air monitoring to ensure that the amount of asbestos fibres being released into the air are within safe limits (OHSR 6.12). Aquila Safety Technicians are experienced in air monitoring and produce timely clearance certificates.
